What I appreciated most was how the book situates the family’s story within the larger context of the Great Migration and Detroit’s struggles. It made the narrative feel deeply personal while also offering a reflection on broader historical and cultural themes. That said, I did find the pacing a little uneven at times, especially with the shifts between past and present, and I wished there had been a little more resolution on some of the larger societal issues touched upon.Still, The Turner House is an incredibly moving and thought-provoking read. It’s a story that lingers with you long after you’ve turned the last page. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys family sagas and historical fiction
